Join staff from the School of Health and Social Care on a memory walk today to support World Alzheimer's Month. We will be meeting in front of the Lakeside Cafe/Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall on Square 5 at 1pm. The walk will take about 40 minutes.

September is World Alzheimer's Month. This international campaign, started by Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) back in 2012, aims to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia.

2 out of every 3 people globally believe there is little or no understanding of dementia in their countries. The stigmatisation and misinformation attached to dementia remains a global problem that requires global action (see attached infographic).

What is a memory walk?

A memory walk is a simple way of raising awareness about Alzheimer's and dementia. All you have to do is turn up and walk. There will also be an opportunity to talk to staff from the School about dementia if you want to.
