This option allows you to devise and create your own practical theatre project, whether solo (on your own) or in a group (two or more people working together). You will be supervised by a member of staff.
You will also write an individual 4,000 word essay in support of your practical piece. Group projects will have a time-tabled slot for their IPTP so that the entire group has a timetabled meeting once a week, but you will also need to work and rehearse outside of this allotted time-tabled session.
As a solo performer, actor or deviser, you will create a one-person piece of performance (no more than 30 minutes in length). You will also write an essay of 4,000 words.
If you are working in a group of 2 or more, your will make a practical piece of theatre; this could be a devised piece, a co-authored piece, the production of a classic play, or of a new piece of writing (no more than 60 minutes in length). Members of the group may take on the following roles: directing, acting, costumes, set and sound design, producing, dramaturgy.
Performances will be held in the Spring term in the Lakeside Theatre (mainstage or Studio) or may, under special circumstances, be staged elsewhere, depending on the needs of the piece.
