This module offers students hands-on experience with real-world examples of conference interpreting. Students will develop a professional mindset and approach by providing an in-depth overview of the event industry. With designed practices, students will gain practical insights into the challenges interpreters face in different contexts, as well as the strategies used to cope with them. The module fosters analytical thinking, linguistic readiness, and adaptability. With a strong focus on practical application, this module equips students with the versatility and professional judgment needed to perform in both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting scenarios.
Learning and practices of this module will prepare students for professional interpreting projects by delving into case studies of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. Integrating advanced technologies such as LLMs and search engines/corpora, students will gather relevant information, acquire new concepts, and internalize specialized terminologies, crucial for tackling complex assignments. By emphasizing contextual comprehension, students will enhance their language accuracy, processing speed, and situational awareness, both in project preparation and while conducting interpreting.
