This module forms part of the Intensive Route in German, but can also be taken as a stand-alone module e.g. outside option. The aim of the module LA221 in the Autumn Term, together with LA222 in the Spring Term and continued study throughout the summer including an additional 4 week summer course, is to reach exit level CEFR B1 and therefore enable specialist students to progress to LA240 Post-A-Level German in their subsequent year of study. Without the summer study, you should reach exit level CEFR A2 after completing LA222, enabling you to progress to LA230 Intermediate German.
By the end of the module, students will be able to
• take part in a dialogue in the context of a range of everyday situations;
• carry out listening and reading comprehension tasks;
• carry out various writing tasks (e.g. short descriptions and narratives, simple email messages), making relevant lexical and grammatical choices.
