This module will seek to investigate the umbrella term Theatre and Education from a range of perspectives and contexts, including social, historical, political as well as artistic. Through a hands-on approach (including direct experience in both a primary and secondary school environment) you will explore practical participatory techniques for storytelling and approaches to devising, including mantle of the expert, forum theatre, and a range of workshop games and exercises.
You will also engage with those writing specifically for young audiences. This will help build a tool box of skills all of which underpin one of Theatre and Education's founding principles: recognition of the human beings natural inclination to make sense of the world and the self within the world, through play.
