This module is intended for students who have successfully completed basic skill training of consecutive interpreting (CI) and aims to further their skills in preparation for the professional work and professional exams. The basic CI skills include: note-taking/ memory; active listening; quick understanding and processing of the main ideas of the speech; pre-task preparation (i.e. research, background knowledge and terminology-building); the ability to produce accurate and concise interpreting which is grammatically correct (or at least not grammatically distracting or confusing), and faithful to the register and appropriate for the style of the speaker; public speaking skills (projection, posture, style, pacing, overcoming nervous habits, withstanding pressure); the ability to provide and receive constructive criticism; the ability to monitor one's own work and identify and learn from mistakes made; adaptability in challenging and changing circumstances; and the ability to work with speakers, colleagues, texts, and AV tools.
