By the final year of the BA/BA Hons Contemporary Theatre students are considered to be performers and actors. The work of skills classes in terms one and two of the final year in this compulsory module focuses on students' professional development. Classes will involve work on preparation of self-created performances and for the final Showcase performance. Weekly classes will also deal with any on-going technical issues arising from students' acting projects.

Voice
You will continue your professional development of warm-ups and vocal preparation for rehearsal and performance. You will demonstrate ability to change vocal qualities for the purpose of dramatic characterisation. The use of accents as appropriate to devised, improvised and self-created work will be supported by personal voice tuition as necessary to support performances. You will learn how to make sensible use of the voice coach through the support you receive for your roles in production work.

Movement
In the final year of the BA/BA Hons Contemporary Theatre Movement focuses on the practice and application of techniques learned in the studio to performances in a range of styles and forms. Individual coaching takes place in tutorials or within project rehearsals. Students will learn to maintain a free and versatile physical presence.

Music and Singing
With guidance from tutors you will continue to source suitable material for the accumulation of appropriate repertoire. You will use your expanded sense of vocal identity to apply self-regulated and purpose-designed warm-ups. The module contains opportunities for students to attend master classes to prepare for professional auditions. Classes are based on the application of technique to practical acting projects, as well as the ability to perform songs in solo and ensemble disciplines. Particular emphasis at this level is placed on the dramatic context of material, including that of self-created work and students will receive individual tutorials to support their work.
