This is a module for students who have passed LA440 and/or LA450 and have passed their year abroad or have done successfully at least 16 weeks in a Spanish-speaking country. To take this module students should have reached level C1 according to the European Framework for Languages. Documentation supporting this should be provided.
This is a specialist Spanish module dealing with advanced nuances of grammar and lexis as expressed in implicit meaning. The aims of the module are to enhance knowledge and awareness of some of the subtleties of the Spanish language while developing further knowledge of some aspects of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking countries. The contents are based on authentic materials that develop the grammar and style of the language further.
Learning Outcomes
Students should be able: to understand with ease virtually everything heard or read; to summarise information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation; to express themselves spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations; and would also have acquired a set of transferable skills (communication; presentation; conversation; précis writing; team work).
