Aims and objectives

Spanish Beginners One is part of the Languages for All programme. It aims to provide students with

a solid foundation in the vocabulary and discourse used in Spanish when dealing with different types of companies/management in general business settings. The course will also develop students’ geographic literacy and cultural understanding of the Spanish-speaking world, as these are essential to being able to conduct business successfully in Spanish.

 

Upon completion of the course, students will:

 

·         have a solid foundation in business vocabulary, basic business, and cultural concepts, and be prepared through situational practice for success in today’s business world.

·         demonstrate cross-cultural communicative competence for business purposes.

·         be able to exercise reading, writing, and listening skills regarding basic business practices, management, marketing, and political economy in the Spanish-speaking world.

·         be proficient in formal correspondence formats in Spanish for business purposes (e.g. business letters, memoranda, emails etc.).
