This Module examines the cultural memory and 'mythology' of the Second World War in modern Britain.  It begins with a discussion of different approaches to cultural memory, and the differences and similarities between memory and history, and then proceeds on a case study basis, moving from the war films of the 1950s, through the Falklands War of 1982, the relationship of the Second World War to memories of decolonisation, the end of the Cold War, and its appearance in debates and discussion around both 'Brexit' and Covid.
